Make Your Bed Every Day… and 3 Other Small Things You Can Do Daily to Stay Organized

Ever since I was a little girl, my grandmother and mother always made sure we made our beds every day as soon as we woke up. It was ingrained in me that if there is one thing I do as soon as I wake up every day, it’s make my bed. As a kid, I thought they were just being bossy and controlling (I’m a Leo and like to have my freedom, what can I say?!) but now I get it. Boy, do I get it!

The bedroom is where you start and end your day and by making your bed, you can impact how you feel when you start and end your day – I start the day feeling accomplished and end the day excited to dive in and get some good sleep!

What are some other things I do every day to stay organized, you ask? I also put my clothes away – yep, every day! When I take them off, I put them in the hamper or hang them back up if they get another wear before I wash them. There are some nights when I just DO NOT want to but not waking up to a pile of clothes is so peaceful to me.

I also make sure to deal with my mail. I throw away junk mail, take care of paying my bills, or if there is something else that can’t be completed right then, I put it in my folder that I deal with at the end of the week. It’s nice to not have a pile of mail and junk that grows every day until it takes over my kitchen counter.

Lastly, I always tidy up the kitchen. I don’t always completely clean the kitchen like my parents used to have us to do but I always make sure to wipe down the counters, put spices away, and make sure the dirty dishes are contained in the sink and not taking over. It’s not perfect but it helps to have the mess contained so I’m not overwhelmed when it’s time to tackle the dreaded chore of washing dishes.

Which one of these can I challenge you to start incorporating this week? Let me know in the comments how you do! And if you want more help on your organization journey, reach out to us today!
